Armed with extensive international business experience, Hideo Noguchi founded Noguchi & Associates in November 1982. Capitalizing on his knowledge of the Japanese business environment and its burgeoning interests in Hawaii, he soon led the agency to become a major player in servicing the insurance needs of Japanese-owned companies doing business in Hawaii. Realizing that Hawaii was not the only place being affected by the growth of Japanese investors, he immediately joined brokers in Los Angeles and New York as a non-resident broker. Today, he is the CEO of one of the largest and most respected insurance agencies in Hawaii.

His wealth of knowledge and experience moves forward into the next generation with the establishment of the Noguchi Academy in Japan. Through this institution, young aspiring insurance agents learn the mechanics of American insurance agency operation and develop advanced knowledge of insurance coverages and risk management.

Although major emphasis was placed on working with Japanese-owned companies, he makes sure that Noguchi & Associates is still an agency serving the needs of the business community in the state of Hawaii.

RICHARD NAKAYAMA
Vice Chairman

Reinforcing our commitment to fully serve the Hawaii business community, long time insurance leader, Richard Nakayama, joined the agency as President in 1997. With more than 35 years of experience, Richard was responsible for the management and development of the agency operations. Noguchi & Associates is now a full-service operation capable of managing the needs of all our clients. During his first four years, the revenue base increased by 300%.

To better serve our clients and focus on new accounts, Richard was promoted to Vice Chairman on January 1, 2009.

Prior to joining Noguchi & Associates, he served as a Managing Director of Marsh & McLennan, Inc. where he was first in charge of The Insurance Brokerage Operations and then the Risk Management Division. At that time, he was responsible for the development, servicing, and maintenance of all major accounts written in the Hawaii office.

MITCHELL NOGUCHI
President

Mitchell “Mitch” Noguchi will oversee five branches on four islands with over 40 insurance carriers. Noguchi joined his father’s company in 2004 as a File Clerk and Receptionist. The Punahou alum worked his way through the company and received training through internship programs at high profile insurance companies on the local, national, and international level. His practice includes time at Pasadena and New York City branches of Tokio Marine (the parent company of Hawaii-based First Insurance Company), training at Island Insurance in a precursor to their current internship program, as well as classes provided through Crum & Forster (C&F).
